Valley Azteca in Arcata

The crisy shredded beef tacos are the bomb! I would go with the combination plate with beans and rice also, you won't be disappointed! The tequila margarita was delicious and the owners/staff are warm and friendly. The manager/owner must have overheard us comment that we were a bit chilly and he brought a small heater over to warm us up! Looking forward to trying other dishes at this wonderful treasure of a restaurant in Arcata!

Great little Mexican restaurant the food was fresh and the service was fast. My wife loved blackberry margarita.

Yummy Mexican food. The prices are fair, not expensive($$$) but not your SoCal($) prices either. Big servings and open relatively late. Definitely worth a try.

Good Mexican food, a little pricey but not overboard. The atmosphere could use a little help, but definitely a welcome place for family's.

So it's not that I "disliked" this restaurant, the people working were very sweet. The food wasn't great, bland and watery but it was also close to closing time.

Delicious, authentic Mexican! We love good guacamole, and they did not disappoint on that! Tamales and enchiladas were delicious too. They were very accommodating with outdoor seating options too!

Valley Azteca has been consistently amazing every time I've gone. Prices are fair and the quality is very high. Really recommend any burrito with chicken, their chicken is awesome. Can't recommend this place enough for Mexican eats.

Food was alright but not amazing or particularly great in any way. Service was below average, constant empty water, did not ask if we liked the food, did not give beans and a rice that was listed on menu with quesadillas. Overall meh, don't recommend it.

First of all, I love this place. I come here a few times a week. This is a family owned business and of course, the food is home made. The tortillas are made by hand and are amazing. the mole sauce tastes just like the mole I've eaten in Mexico, everything tastes so authentic. The workers are so friendly. Try this place, you won't regret it!edit: I highly recommend the veggie burrito or quesadilla! with horchata.

I’m from Los Angeles, and I have to say this is one of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve been at. Being Mexican I know there’s many who have lost the seasoning our plates carry! Only a few restaurants from Los Angeles have the taste all Mexican dishes should have, that being said Valley Azteca is a 5 star restaurant in taste, ambience & service. I’ll be coming back every time I visit my brother at Humboldt University! Amazing!!!

Valley Azteca is a very good Mexican restaurant. The quality of food is excellent. The service is good and pleasant. I gave it 4 stars only because I think it's a little bit pricey for Mexican food but if you are in town and in the mood for some good Mexican food that tastes homemade, this is the place to go.

Wow.... I spent a couple days trying to find decent grub in and around Arcata. Kept on getting screwed over on food sizes and bad service or overpriced food etc. But this was different. The service was SPECTACULAR. The amount of food was amazing. High quality too. Definitely found my new place to eat when i am in Arcata!

Valley Azteca is a sit-down service Mexican restaurant with a big menu and great food. They have a great staff that provides wonderful service and all of the food is as authentic as it gets for the area. I would recommend this place if you're looking to go out for Mexican food. If you plan on getting takeout, call your order in first before going to pick it up. It typically takes 10 minutes for them to prepare a small order.

First time here. Pleasantly surprised. Nice warm and crispy chips served with two types of hot sauce; one mild, the other smoking hot -- both super flavorful. Wide ranging menu with numerous selections of the usual fare with some other items that one doesn't always see like posole, abondigas, menudo, lingua, and a nice seafood selection too. Staff super friendly and attentative. Bonus for being open on Sunday. Our group had carne asada and shredded beef tacos, enchiladas, and chile rellenos with rice and beans as well as abondigas soup. Everything was delicious. The only thing that was off putting on first impression was that one of the laminated menus needed a really good wipe down. But hey, maybe it was just well loved by a little kid. Definitely will be back to work through their menu and so glad we tried someplace new.
